The Fabric of Style

We like to think if it’s clear that something has been made with care, it's less likely to be seen as transient and more likely to be cherished for years to come. So, we create well-considered pieces with purpose and longevity. Thoughtful designs that are beautifully made, and made to last.

Central to this guiding philosophy of enduring style is our careful choice and development of fabrics.

We collaborate with artisan mills who understand and share our passion for quality. Most of the mills we work with are based in Italy, dotted around the historic hills of Prato, Como and Capri and deeply rooted in their landscape. Here, there is a proud heritage of premium fabric production, but also a continual process of evolution towards new creative practices and technologies that prioritise sustainability and minimise waste.

Each season, we cultivate a new colour palette and either piece or yarn dye our fabrics to match. The signature Three Graces’ fabric weaves, stripes and textures are specially developed to ensure their uniqueness. Nothing we do is off the rack, but instead designed with integrity and intended to bring a sense of luxury to the everyday.

How clothing feels against the skin is crucial, meaning we use only use natural fibres like Italian linen or organic cotton poplin. The authenticity we find in nature is a constant source of inspiration.

The fabrics featured in our new Resort 2020 collection are no exception; carrying the threads of quality, sustainability and individuality through to a new season. Below, we take a closer look at the fabrics used; exploring why they were chosen - and of course, suggesting how best to show them off.

Compact Cotton Poplin

The ultimate summer in the city fabric, our Compact Cotton Poplin is meticulously yarn dyed with a luxurious compact weave.

Fabric qualities: effortless, authentic, exquisitely cool

As seen on: a sequence of relaxed yet sophisticated silhouettes, such as the Valeraine, the Carlota and the Aurora.

Lightweight Italian Ramie

Our ultimate, signature beachwear fabric. Similar to a very lightweight linen, our Italian-made Ramie is made for breezy days by the sea and staying chic in the heat.

Fabric qualities: relaxed, liberatingly lightweight, breathable

As seen on: The versatile Julienne Dress. Serving up a refreshing shot of cerulean blue, this ankle- grazing gown works just as well buttoned up as worn open over a favourite swimsuit.

Italian Rainbow Striped Linen

Developed exclusively for Three Graces, Italian Rainbow Striped Linen is manipulated to create easy- going shapes that suggest a sense of freedom.

Fabric qualities: cool, soft, natural, not too precious

As seen on: The Emilia Mini Dress; the epitome of summer simplicity with its clean, curved lines and scoop tie-back.

Striped Italian Cotton Linen Seersucker

Unlike anything else on the market, our Cotton Linen Seersucker has a unique, cool texture and fizzes with zingy citrus woven stripes.

Fabric qualities: flowing, delicately textured, cool in the heat

As seen on: The tiered Cosette Maxi Dress and high-waisted Filippa Trousers; ideal for alfresco dining or covering up on the beach.

Silk Crepe de Chine

Each and every stage of the silk harvesting, spinning, weaving and dyeing process is expertly controlled to produce the finest quality Crepe de Chine – all with minimal waste.

Fabric qualities: polished, fluid, drapes beautifully on the body, easy to pack

As seen on: The floor-sweeping, side-split Filippa Trousers and matching Belina Kaftan in deep indigo - a timelessly elegant take on twinset dressing.

Our super light Washed Poplin feels deliciously cool against the skin and holds shape well, making it perfect for the heat of the city in mid-summer.

Fabric qualities: feather-light, fresh, unfussy
